You may already know that Telemedicine is a quick, easy and cheap way to visit with a doctor about your physical health. But, did you know you can do the same thing for emotional & behavioral health as well?
Virtual behavioral health and counseling services, known as teletherapy, are offered by licensed therapists who provide treatment for:
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Panic attacks
- Trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder
If you are on our company’s medical plan through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas, you can have a live visit on your computer or mobile device with a licensed therapist at a time that works for you. Blue Cross provides teletherapy services through American Well (Amwell). With Amwell, registration is easy, private, and secure.
There are three ways to get started:
- Download the Amwell app on any mobile device
- Signup on a computer at bcbsks.com/telehealth
- Call 844-799-9681 (844-SEE-DOCS)
Can My Family Use Telehealth?
If your spouse and/or children are covered under your BCBSKS plan, they are eligible for telemedicine services. Your spouse should create their own account, but children and dependents under age 18 can be added to your account and have doctor visits on your behalf. You need to register first, and then the child or dependent can be added to the account. Children or dependents over the age of 18 must create their own account.
